{"id":438,"date":"2022-10-28T07:03:28","date_gmt":"2022-10-28T07:03:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/el-refugi.com\/article-3\/"},"modified":"2023-05-22T17:17:15","modified_gmt":"2023-05-22T17:17:15","slug":"sup-yoga-5-first-asanas-on-the-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/el-refugi.com\/en\/sup-yoga-5-first-asanas-on-the-board\/","title":{"rendered":"SUP Yoga: Your first 5 asanas on the board"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The first experience of SUP yoga can be confusing &#8211; but amazing &#8211; since you are perhaps more familiar with practising yoga on the mat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019re probably imagining all the balancing or headstand poses on top of a tiny board that\u2019s moving around. And, if you have never practised yoga before, perhaps you think you should try it on a mat first rather than on a board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But&#8230; the boards we use are specially designed for SUP yoga and they are very buoyant and stable.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And there is progression in the poses. During the first session we only stand up for a couple of minutes and do very basic poses to get a feel for it and experiment with balance. For the rest of the session, we are on all fours, lying down or face down.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All the asanas we practice help us to familiarise ourselves with the buoyancy and movement of our body, creating and improving body awareness.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a SUP yoga session, you normally feel more connected and more secure on the board.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are five basic poses we always include in the first SUP yoga session:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cat-cow \/ <em>Marjaryasana &#8211; Bitilasana<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Downward facing dog<em>\/ Adho Mukha Svanasana<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cobra \/ <em>Bhujangasana<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Butterfly \/ <em>Baddha Konasana<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Corpse pose\/ <em>Savasana<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first experience of SUP yoga can be confusing &#8211; but amazing &#8211; since you are perhaps more familiar with practising yoga on the mat.
